Legal Stuff…

AKA Disclosures and Privacy Policy…

As I am starting this website, I am learning A LOT about the rules and regulations that govern the Internet.  Below, I outline the ‘Legal Stuff’ that our site will observe.  Please check back regularly for updates.  As this website grows (at least I hope it will!) and I learn about blogging, I will add information as needed.  I would love to capture everything the first time, but am finally starting to accept that pretty much everything needs revision at some point…  (All links on this page will open in a new tab.)

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requires that websites and blogs disclose the ways they make money (or at least attempt to do so!) and protect the privacy of those who visit their sites.  If you want to learn more, please visit their website.    It’s a pretty useful site.  Besides learning about Endorsement Guides and the CAN-SPAM Act, you can request your free credit reports, add your phone number to the National Do Not Call Registry, and many other things.   I would suggest you check it out sometime.

I started this website for fun and definitely don’t want to run amok of any legal issues, so here goes…

This website chronicles our family’s personal living and learning homeschool journey.  We hope that it will provide a little income, so we can afford to do a few fun things with our kids, like dance class and music lessons.  To that end, you may see affiliate marketing, third-party ads, sponsored posts, and other advertising on this site.  Hopefully though, it won’t be overwhelming or the focus of this site.  Learning fun will always be our focus!  We will make it clear whenever compensation is involved with things we post.  We will be honest in what we say about any products or services; good, bad, or ugly.  And you should often find that most of the things we share have no compensatory ‘strings’ attached.  We greatly value your interest in our journey and hope we will bring value to your family’s learning adventures.  We really appreciate your support!

Affiliate Marketing
Chansen Academy engages in affiliate marketing.  This means we sometimes post links to products and if you click on those links and purchase items, we will receive a small commission from the seller.  These links will be denoted as affiliate links on all posts and pages.  If a link is not designated as affiliate, we will not receive any commission if you follow those links, whether you purchase items or not.

We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.com.

Other Advertising and Sponsorships
In the future, Chansen Academy will likely include third-party advertising.  Chansen Academy is participating in the Google AdSense Program.  This third party vendor uses cookies to serve ads based on the browsing history of visitors to this site.  This is called interest-based advertising.  We receive a small commission based on clicks and impressions from these ads.  Please see the Google Adsense home page for more information.  Great information on how Google uses cookies and how to manage or opt-out of the use of cookies is available on Google’s Privacy and Terms – Advertising page.  Additional information on opting-out of the use of cookies by some third-party advertisers is available at aboutads.info.

I will add additional important information about any advertising when it is added to the site.

Product Reviews and Give-aways
If we ever receive free products to review and we post about them, we will make it clear that we did not pay for the product.  (I am also considering having giveaways for products like that, but am not anywhere close to crossing that bridge yet… 🙂 )

Privacy
Information you provide when signing up to follow our website and blog, or join our email list (coming soon!), will be kept private.  We will never share or sell your name, email address, or any other information.

Website statistics are tracked using cookies placed on your computer.  We will utilize the available tools to evaluate the performance and use of our website, but will never use that data for any other purposes.

Forum posts are public, so please exercise caution in what information you post and share.

Conclusion
In summary, we will do everything we can to make sure the content we include on the Chansen Academy website and blog is ‘on the up and up.’  We value honesty and forthrightness.  We are truly grateful for those who take their valuable time to visit our site and travel with us on our homeschooling journey.  Thank you for your support and companionship!

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about these policies, please do not hesitate to contact us.  Thanks for visiting Chansen Academy!
